Do you paint your figs first, or put them together than paint

hi
i havent built meny fig's but i build then paint, with the exception of some small bits like bags, ammo pouches, gasmask cans, knife/trenching tool. i paint these seperatly then add to the figure. otherwise it would be tricky to get painted/ shading behind the edges of these.

hope that makes sence, n helps.

I've never been a fan of painting on the sprue. I assemble figures and then paint. If you can see it you can paint it. The exceptions would be sometimes weapons and heads - I'll sometimes paint those first.

Hi Michael,

The general rule would be put together than paint, this way you can fill all the gaps etc before you paint the figure.
As Neil mentioned there are some elements that are much easier to paint separately and attach later such as equipment, helmets..., but some modelers like to attach these prior to painting, some paint the head separately others do not, there is no clear rule, it is basically about finding a way that you find the best, the easiest, the most fun to do...
I would suggest that you paint a few figures trying out different ways and see what works for you.

Regards,

Luka
