While waiting for some MiG pigments to arrive from the UK for my Dragon 1:72 Su-100, I began this little Matchbox Gem.
Very basic but who cares....
So I got the box out, checked the parts and started.
I love Matchbox 1:76 armour. Simple kits they may be, but who can resist the bases in each kit?
Diorama "Was ist los?" in a box!
Here is the little PanzerSpaehwagen in the "buff", though someone should have told Feldwebel Otto that this neighbourhood is not a good place to park as someone has swiped his ride's wheels!
A smooth assembly with parts needing only minimal cleanup and a touch of filler
Sehr Gut!
Paint (naturally) followed next with the base going through 3 changes of clothes before I was satisfied with the overall look. Being a Chinese origin Matchbox kit, the decals were rather dubious and even with Microscale decal film applied, I only salvaged the Balkenkreuz and the vehicle number. Oh, and the shop sign (thank God!)
Luckily, another modeller kindly supplied me with some Italieri decals for the Sd.Kfz 232 and those performed brilliantly.
Some more pics to show progress.
I am about a third of the way through painting the 2 figures.
The Wehrmacht officer has an unusual jacket, being open to the sternum. Is the undershirt field grey as normally with the high collar the shirt is white. He certainly ain't Panzergruppe, with the wrap around jacket. A mystery to be sure.
Cheers
Mike

Looks good so far, Michael. Looking forward to see it finished.
The Matchbox kits are not up to todays standards, but they are fun! And as Michael already pointed out they come with a small base.
A nice stroll down memory lane.

OK, figures painted and the little vignette finished.
Matchbox 1:76 kits are very basic but as per usual are solid builds.
I am pleased with the way this kit turned out. Figures were painted with Vallejo paints.
A fun build without having to be concerned with detail and too much accuracy.
Cheers
Mike
