Hello all

I've recently bought Alpine Mini's 12th SS Grenadier Set, and as this will be my first diorama I am a little stuck on what other mini's to use, and what diorama to portray. I understand that the 12th was involved in the German defense of Normandy against British and Canadian troops, so something along these lines would be good, but I can't find any suitable models; figures or afvs. My modelling skills, whilst modest, are competent enough, so you can pretty much throw any idea at me.

Thanks in advance

Since you're looking for accuracy, see if you can find a unit ghistory online or pictures of the unit in action then go from there.

Yeah I've had a look on the likes of wikipedia, and I'm pretty sure I want to go with commonwealth troops, maybe idle and being snook up on by these two. Can you recommend any figures or vehicles? I'm open to any brand and budget isn't an issue.

Thanks

Plus models do a set of Commonwealth figures shaving and relaxing, Resicast and Ultracast do sitting and relaxing Commonwealth soldiers.

In my oppinion you can use both Shermans or Cromwells, or maybe a Brencarrier. Looking foreward to see the diorama in progress.
Good luck

Pat, do you know of any UK sources for those figures?

Jacob, yes I was thinking of maybe a sherman. Do you know what model was used in summer 1944?

Thanks for the help. Will get pictures up as soon as I start

I've now decided on my Diorama and what kit I'm going to use.

I'm going to have a Cromwell (tamiya) with VLS and Alpine tank crew. The tank will have pulled up just at a field on a country lane. The lane will be enlosed on one side all the way with a hedgerow with a ditch on the other side, where our Germans will be. The other side will have perhaps a the same but up to a point where a fence to the field is so the tank has space to pull over.

If that description is a little confusing, I'll get a sketch up; I don't intend making the base until the kits are complete. I still need to source the VLS Cromwell tank crew. Netmerchants are out of stock. I might ring them tommorow and see if they have an ETA. In the meantime does anyone know of any other stockists?

I will get pics up of WiP as I'm starting on the Germans tommorow.

Thanks
