what do you guys use to thin enamels? I have been using laquer thinner but am looking for something that isn't as harsh and doesnt smell as bad. Any suggestions would be most helpful.

Thanks,

scoccia

I use Model Master enamels, so I try to stick with Model Master thinner. I've heard people say its best to stay with the thinner recommended by the paint manufacturer. I use generic laquer thinner or mineral spirits to clean my airbrush and regular brushes, but thats about it.

I use Model master thinner to thin Model master paints.. however where I get the worst of the smell is when I'm cleaning the airbrush.. for that I use Low Odor Mineral Spirits, which you can get at Wal-Mart or almost any paint or craft store. The stuff is around $2.00 a Quart which beats the $6 or so a pint that MM thinner goes for, and so I don't mind usein it just to clean the airbrush.

Also remember to spray the thinner into something.. if you don't have a cleaning station then Baby Food bottles are the perfect size for catching the thinner.
