I know this is a long shot but.... Does anyone know if there are metal or individual track links for Legends' Merkava 4? The tracks that came with the kit aren't great.

Ok I just bought Fruilmodel tracks for another kit and loved the quality.

Thanks

Dave

Hi All,

A bit of tantilzing news from Academy. They are producing a Merkava 4 kit in plastic with photo etch. The kit number is 13213 and I believe the release date is July 2008.

The Merkava 3 was released late and the scheduled July 2008 release date should be viewed with caution.

Lets hope that it will be released sometime in the near future and that it ihas the correct dimensions.

Juljon.

I personally would not put too much hope on Academy stuff.Look at the so call 'latest' releases:M3 Lee and M551,problems are all over the place.

I highly doubt the quality of the kit would be as good as the Legend one though I might have to look into it.. ;-)

Thanks for the info

Hi ,

Note your comments regarding the quality of the Academy Kits but working with plastic is less of a hassle than working with resin and is far cheaper.

You never know until the kit is produced that it might be OK.

Hello, I am building mine. I think that the individual tracklinks are just fine. The problem are the long sessions which do not fit the drive sprockets . To assemble the tracks properly I managed to figure out two options: order individual links from Legend or break down the long sessions to individual links and assemble them again. Please if anyone has found other ways to fix the tracks let me know. Thanks in advance . Arpi

Considering the price of oil and what I've been hearing about the price increases coming from DML, Trumpeter, etc. The price gap between resin and plastic is getting narrower. Also the price of shipping (containers) has increased exponentionally. Soon, it may be cost effective to produce our own products back in the U.S. instead of buying everything from China. What a strange turn of events that would be.

I had my fair share of problems with the tracks as well. See my model in my gallery under Lim.

What I did was, I threw away the whole track and used the Merkava 3's narrow tracks, it may not be accurate, but better to be not accurate than to die of frustration!!!! Already with the weak undercarriage, which I wrote about in Missing Lynx, its already a headache, which I reinforced with copper rods.

That is great news, I hope that between the Academy and HobbyBoss offerings we'll find some common...accurate ground to work with.
