Check out this strv122 by Swedish modeler Markus Eriksson.
It doesn't get any more real than this. :-)

Great... that Strv machine is one of the meanest looking modern beasts I've seen. It would be great to build one. And paint... the Swedish camo scheme looks great, too.

Thord,
What camo scheme was that?? Have the 122's been repainted to a earth or yellow color?? Or does the top of a tank get the same colors as the bottom, through usage??
Very impressive stuff indeed!!!

Brian.
The tank is painted in the splinter camo scheme and then heavily weathered with dust.
After a day on the training field you can't see the camo pattern any more.

It's actually a kind of tarp that comes in small pieces and on the outside of that "tarp" there is camonetting attached. The pieces is contour made to fit exactly.
You attach them to the tank with special hooks that are glued to the tank and then you hook on the nettings to them.
Some parts are attached with screws.

Yeah, I will try to replicate that on my next Strv122 model.
I'm in the process of gathering info on the Barracuda camouflage at the moment.

Congrats on the promotion Corporal!
Does anyone make a Strv122 conversion? The more I look at it, the more I like it...

Yes, offcourse.
I was a part of developing the HKCW conversion for Tamiya Leo2A5.
Trackjam models in Canada carries them.
I don't know of any US dealers right now.
Otherwise I'm the Swedish dealer for HKCW so maybe I can sell you one if you can't find it in the US.
I'm waiting for a shipment right now (No Brian, I haven't got them yet).

Shameless Plug
OK guys, the STRV 122 is in stock at Trackjam Models at $45 CAD (That's Canadian $) or just under $30 USD. I do ship to the US and I do take credit cards (through PayPal).
check us out at http://members.rogers.com/trackjam
I also have my model and photo gallery. I'd welcome comments.
