Does anyone know, what are the differences between the 1/35 Trumpeter BJ-212 Chinese soft top and recoilless rifle jeeps, and the Hobbycraft Iraqi Fedayeen Technical? The Trump is not bad I hear; don't know about the HC, although it seems to sell for less. Found some nice resin tires for the BJ-212, but no photoetch at all; I wonder if a set exists for any of these these kits?

Hobbycraft's kit is based on Trumpeter's BJ212. You'll find some kit pics and info HERE

They are the same kit. Hobbycraft is a re-box of Trumpeter. Hobbycraft doesn't include decals though. Also, Iraq never used the BJ-212 w/or w/o recoilless rifle. It was released as such to capitalize on OIF when it started. Trumpeter re-issued a bunch of their kits under the Hobbycraft label in OIF schemes, whether they were actually used in the conflict or not.

Thanks guys. The HC is cheaper and cheaper is better. Accuracy is not a problem for me, nor is the lack of a decal. I was thinking about modifying it into some kind of customized insurgent-mobile, like a hooptie with a Dushka in the back or something.
