Does anyone knows some good aftermarket products to build a Sherman DD?

I saw resicast has one, but I didn't find any details on it. Is it good, did anyone build it, are there others?

I'm thinking of doing my first conversion, and why not start with a Sherman DD.

Thanks a lot!

Dave

I would say - Resicast. They have wadding sets that can be complemented with Bison decals (they have specific sets for wadding Shermans) www.resicast.com

Other than that, Formations can be a good bet www.formationsmodels.com

I MUST IN THE STRONGEST TERMS say don't use the Resicast DD as your 1st conversion. I have extensive experience in many conversions and scratchbuilds and my Resicast DD still sits in the box. Why? Because I know it will be one of the most complicated builds I would attempt. There are many cool Sherman subjects out there (M1 Dozer, backdated Shermans, etc.) Maybe cut your teeth on one of them? The DD is pretty pricey too.

Formations does not make a duplex drive conversion, by the way

Hi Roy,
I have a Resicast DD and have only looked in the box. I didn't test fit anything but it all looked nice. What has you so spooked? You must know something I don't.

It's just all that bracing and tubing -- whoa! I gotta get my courage/motivation up to do that baby. Right now, I've got some cool projects that I'm plunging into (M31B1 scratchbuild, Char B1 bis, M7 Priest, 1/48 StuG IIIG) .

Hi Dave,

i'd agree with Roy, if this is going to be your first time working with resin, then pick a simple conversion to start with. However, if you feel confident, then go ahead but remember it's a lot to pay out if something goes wrong.

Good luck.

Al

Resicast
http://www.resicast.com/
have 2 'defrocked' Shermans, 35.166 & 35.167, which are 'simpler' (this being a completely RELATIVE term!) not cheap either Euros €140.00

Resicast are to resin what DML/Dragon 1000+ part superkits are to plastic, but definately not quick or easy builds.

I agree with Roy C, as all my Resicasts, are still boxed, while I 'upgrade' my skills to the level needed to finish them!

If you are really keen to build the DD's Millicast have several in 1/76

just right for Accurate Armours' LCT4!
