Ola Guys
64 years ago... D-Day plus 1 but more recent something else important (to me at least) happened. Six years ago it was the first time I pushed on the doorbell of this great site, Then it was a young site. But one with absolute potential. They let me in (little did they know) and since then I pretty much never left... I spend a little while in the Dutch Speaking cupboard under the stairs but that was because Lord Voldemort was waving the scepter of the beloved site where I spend over 20% of my live now. Want to thank the staff for making this a great site. And of course all the members through the years. My modelling improved in quality... It did not really improve in built time as I must be the slowest builder around. I have met a lot of people... I have seen a lot sadly go. But I got a lot of friends here during my six year stay. And that is even more important to me.
Thanks a lot guys... it were good 6 years (5,5 when you pull the time of the Webdictator off).

Hi Robert
You have me by about 9 months I think mate, and you are one of the earliest people I remember. I reckon you are one the most helpful and skilled modellers I've encountered, and in a way set me on the diorama and scratchbuilding path of which I've never looked back!
As for the site, it has opened my eyes to just how many similarly minded folk there are world wide in regards to this hobby of ours, and what a resource the internet and more specifically the forums are to advancing techniques and know-how, and also the feeling of belonging without actually in anyone's presence.
Good stuff
Brad

Two days ago, I celebrated being part of this site for 1 year.
I remember the first diorama I posted here on the site. Looking back on it, it was a rubbish diorama, even thought I had been modelling for 3 years. Since joining the site, I have learnt so much over such a short period of time and can safely say that my dioramas are a lot better thanks to the site. I still have a lot to learn and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here!

I've enjoyed seeing your builds and learning from them and your posts from the day you crashed the party. Hope you stick around for another 30 or so.
cheers!

I'd say that applies to you too Steve. A lot of the old Stump still here.
@ Bradley
Never knew my work was so influential. Pretty honored with that comment. I read from your reply that it at least was not bad influence.
@ Chas
I am still proud on my first diorama I made here on the site. it was also the first campaign of the site for which it was made. It might not be up to my standards as they are now but it was my first diorama which was completely scratchbuilt. And that was more or less the basis for where I am and what I am doing today.
@ Rick.
I can't promiss to be around for another thirty years. Let's first see how the coming 6 years are going to be. Looking back at the past years it should not be a too big a problem.
@ Frank
Indeed it has been a lot of fun so through the years. And also a lot of your work has been an inspiration for me. And it was big fun through the years. So yeah I definately have it as goal to do another six years.
What I found the funniest thing is that when I came here on the site I only had questions. Pretty much the same questions any newbie has here on the site. I was always answered very kindly and patiently and through the years I got my answers on most questions. Eventually a couple of years later I am answering exact the same questions I had when I was still fresh but now asked by new people. I still have great fun in modelling but I love to see other people progressing in their skills. And some people here really improved. Not only here. But also on the Dutchspeaking section where I am now a Staff member for a while (probably also a couple of years). That is for me on of the joys. Looking at other peoples work. I love the way how every person approaches modelling in his own little way. Something that is very visible in the diorama territory.
I have no doubt at all that I will be around for the coming 6 years too.
