Im on a tight budget and what is the best things to substitute grass,dirt,hay,and other senery products.My local hobby shop doesnt carry a wide variety of landscaping products neither does my mailorder hobby shop .Please help me Diorama modlers.

Go to your shed/garage and get that old paint brush. Soke the bristles in green/brown (appropriate) paint and cut off for long grass.
Hemp roap - the brownish twine stuff is great for shorter grass. Get a length of that and untwist it and cut it to length.

Use white glue and water mix as an anchor.

Other than static grass and celluclay, I have never bought landscape material.

Try sand from the beach (or local park. Sorry...), cat litter, gravel from the yard or stream.

You can use various leaf-y spices for vegetation. Try parsley (gotta paint it though...)

For me, I am always looking at what might work in a dio when I am at the store or park.
