Does anyone know where I can get pictures of damaged Shermans. Can you give any ideas of what panzershrecks and German stick grenades do to tanks. What were the sweet spots of Shermens the best place to hit and damage?
Thanx

Some of the best pics of knocked out Shermans that I have seen are in the book "The Sherman At War (2) The US Army in the European Theatre" by Steven Zaloga. It is published by Concord.
The damage caused by these types of weapons varied for many reasons. The panzerschreck could cause an explosion within the tank if it ignited the ammunition. I don't think the stick grenade could cause all that much damage to the tank itself but could possibly take out a track, possibly.
And as far as sweet spots go, on a Sherman it could have been just about anywhere.

I know the most a grenade would do is blow the trax off,A panzerfaust and shrek's would penetrate also, and in case of the sherman, all of it was a sweet spot

From photos I have seen, the exterior damage done by a panzerschreck was minimal, only consisting of a hole at the point of entry. The real carnage was, as shermanfreak has stated, on the inside. Tank killer squads would usually try to attack their prey from the sides. I saw a German film from WWII where a guy with a panzerschreck waits in a building while Shermans pass by along a street. Eventually he chooses a target and nails it in the side, knocking it out.
