Hi, I'm making a 1/18 scale sandbag bunker and I'm just wondering if anyone has made sandbag bunkers, walls, etc and how they did so. A sandbag bunker would need a couple thousand and that would take me a few weeks to do so I'm wondering if theres an easier method. Thanks

You could use Epoxy Putty to make the sandbags, (I'm assuming you know how to do this, if not PM me and I will try to explain it). But first you could build up the structure with florist foam or insulation foam from the Hardware Store, it can be cut and carved it easily, that way you only need to cover the outermost layer with sandbags. You will still end up making quite a few sandbags to build a whole bunker, but alot less than trying to build the whole thing out of sculpted sandbags alone. Hope this helps some.

Another way is made the wall and then carving the sandbags...
I made this in a 1:72 scale dio, I donīt know if in 1/18 will be good....but try..

Chicklets chewing gum works good for 1/35. Not sure about 1/18 though. I soak the chicklets in water until the candy shell disolves, then mold them into shape, and make my sand bag form. You can press a cloth like a cheesecloth on them to give them the texture of real sand bags. I think for 1/18 though, you might need to find some other larger piece of gum to use though.

For that scale what I would do is build a 'block/flat' no texture frame of wood or plaster that is the shape you're looking for. Then you can pour a big flat 1/2 deep piece of plaster that you can carve the ends of the bags. Do this for each side of the block. Bascially you'll build a 'skin' for the block that is the ends of thebags. If you have the resources you can even make one smaller section, make a mold of it and reproduce it in resin/plaster.
