Wood Armor used on Okinawa? Photo
Everything I’ve seen states no wood so here goes;
Looks like wood siding, sand or concrete filled, M4A2 from 1st TB, and for a little more positive ID, it sure looks like T-6 Flotation attachments, only placed used is Okinawa.
For a little more background this came from a USMC documentary. I know you can’t believe everything but here I am at a loss.
Any ideas or info would be great,
Bob

OK what does that have to do with Okinawa? Seems like they are refering to Iwo. Mainly, and nothing about wood on Okinawa.
Thanks for responding,
Bob

Tank Warfare on Iwo Jima from Squadron is a great source of info on this subject.

Okinawa features in the 4th post down and following ones, including the tank with the skirts (looks like that has planks on the side) from what I could gather from a quick scan.

Yes and they also talk about Perry (Which is another Island), and some really neat photo about welded on metal skirts (Which has additional metal armor siding not wood), and a couple of good photos about someones Father on Okinawa with photos of his tank. But not anything relating to wood armor, or the photo in my original post.
Thanks again for showing that, Hopefully some one might use it for a reference and make a model. Some fantastic reference photos there.

Rereading this I have to point out I really appreciate both of your (David's and Jeff's) comments, most would just copy the photo and not respond at all, so I do thank you for taking the time to respond.
