The figures are terrific but the dog looks like it was modelled on Scooby Doo...

hey good one again Masterbox!
there's certainly something a bit bizzare /leathery about the girl holding the dog , but i appreciate the fact that it's a genuine "Dogue Allemand" and not one of those lame German Shepperds.
Her face is ugly but with the help of Hornet's girls heads set, she should really look good.
Nothing special about the Officer though. A bearded navy guy would have been cool

Yeah, where's Shaggy and his Scooby snacks?
Besides the obvious similarity to a cartoon character, it's nice to see something other than an Alsatian or one of the various breeds of Shepherds.
Producing female figures, military or civilian, has been ignored by the plastic kit manufacturers for a long time.
Many thanks Master Box, a very welcome new addition.
Cheers

Interesting, I like the dog!

This is a nice set. I agree that a line officer would be a better choice than what appears to be a staff member. Dog looks OK,maybe make the paws bigger. They look too dainty for his overall size. Can't comment on female beauty from this work monitor I'm on now. Have to wait till I get home to my big screen.

These are two great sets. Will be very useful for non-battle dios. I really commend Masterbox on the nice variety of their latest figure sets.
Now, if Masterbox could take it one step further and do a couple of civilian sets..

I like this set. If the dog was thinner and with a leaner head he'd be almost a Doberman. At the moment he does look like a a bit like Butch from Tom and Jerry.

Hi
Nice to see Masterbox trying something different but I have to say they've got to get the women's head sorted. At the moment it looks like they've taken one of the male soldiers heads and placed it on the females body, which in itself is well done at capturing the female form. Way to masculine in its features and structure on the head though.
To be honest I was a little disappointed when this "new direction" was finally aired, as I don't honestly think its totally uncharted territory. Certainly several female figures exist in the resin figure world, Roger Saunders has a few in his range for example and if remember correctly Preiser do some in injection moulded figures although I think the quality leaves a lot to be desired.
But having said that I don't want to put the dampers on it as it's good to see somebody trying to diversify and not just do another set of German soldiers etc. It's almost become a trademark of Masterbox's along with Miniart to come up with something different and that can be used on their own as opposed to dressing a tank etc.
Personally I'd rather they concentrated on getting those ones they've announced onto the market. The four soldiers carrying the wounded one for starters, oops those are German
The motorcycles and the Kfz1 type 170VK and type 2 as well please. Oh dear German again.
Alright, the two sets of Paras and the "Scotland the Brave" sets first please.

I meant that there was links that artists made after war between Nazi Germany and sadomasochism, there are hints at this either in movies, popular culture such as comics, videogames (return to Castle Wofenstein) etc etc. Seeing one of those girls with a larger than life dog certainly makes a point
this is certainly a GREAT selling point from masterbox
As for the dog, close enough!
btw, off topic but I just remind I never heard my grandma saying anything against the Germans during French occupation, BUT she told me she *hated* the "grey mice" as those girls were called by the French. I wonder what was the men's views!

Three little words people should be aware of WORK IN PROGRESS These aren't anything close to finished figures, so, if people can keep their comments as constructive as possible (remember it helps them get more ideas, it helps us get a better product).
I have to disagree about how many other companies have done this before - in resin, a handful, in plastic, the grand total of none. As to the dog, start looking at some of the albums of contemporary photos which appear on e-bay you'll see a LOT of animals in the photos...

Is it just me, or is this newsflash being beaten to death?
I love the fact that Armorama get the scoop, the inside information and a few threads I can understand, but on the latest posts page, its becoming a bit much.
We were once were getting inside scoops and details from Dragon, and the whole Dragonrama thing started.
Maybe its just that Im not as excited as others on this particular subject, but too many posts are starting to look the same.
Sorry for being negative, but part of thinks this comment is positive.

Hi Jim
It's your fault
"Trust me, it's an area which EVERY manufacturer has completely ignored..."
No but seriously, I was by your remarks expecting something really different, but I don't know what. Knowing Masterbox to come out with those products nobody else seems to recognise, a "gap in the market" as it were I was expecting something totally unseen before and was checking every half an hour to see what it was after your initial announcement. Guess it turned out to be something that didn't get me as excited personally as some others and I can see examples of women and dogs, (not together though) from several makers.
As I said before I don't wish to dampen down Masterbox's efforts as I welcome the innovative approach they take, not only to the sets they make but also in sharing their W.I.P. with us and responding to our comments. The French Partisan set comes to mind in this regard.
I'm sure they'll make the changes to enhance the figures before they are released and I wish them every success with this new direction. I think many modellers, including myself look forward to being able to create dioramas which show something other than soldiers and tanks. More of the "human" element if there can be such a thing in war.
All the best
Alan

Hi Guys,
I like the pose of the woman smoking the cigarette, looks very natrual to me. Not sure about the woman and the dog, lit ooks big enough to haul her off down the street as she looks too feminine to be in control of it, no offence to the female of the species.
Frank, yes know what you mean, one of those threads was mine, but just to circulate some alternative possibilities rather than spic and span in dress uniform. The MB figures tend to be on the big side of 1/35 so I hope the women are slight smaller. The 2 figs in the previous Allied in Europe set were a bit large I thought when compated to other 1/35 offerings.

Let's start with the DML thing. I don't want to start dragging this up as those who were here will remember it all too well. Suffice to say, it's alive and well - but, thank the little styrene gods, not on THIS network...
Onto Masterbox. Well, over 3500 people since the FIRST story was posted on wednesday, seem to think it's worth looking at. I can guarantee, that if any other manufacturer announced something as different as this, there would be an equal 'buzz' on the 'net.
When we got the first pics of the Trumpeter Sd.Kfz 7 or their 203mm howitzer, the page-views on THESE stories went thru the roof. Did I hear any complaints about these?
Regarding the Masterbox stories, I make no apologies for running TWO (yes, only 2) stories about the new initiative. Each one requires two seperate 'What's New' threads (one on Armorama, the other on HF) the first story was updated with MORE images yesterday and I made the editorial decision to run the corresponding 'What's New' to inform people of the updates. At the same time, I got a lot of images of a German set which again, using my initiative, I posted as a seperate news item. Once again, two 'What's New' threads on HF and Armorama... In total SIX threads on two Forums.... That's how it's supposed to function...
To be honest, it's NOT an area I find (personally) tremendously exciting, BUT, it's for many people a hell of an exciting initiative. It's more interesting (for example ) than the usual releases that we're seeing getting hammered to death and getting the company shills screaming about their originality...
The door is open for ANY company to give us images of WIPs a few choose to, our responsibility, as publishers, is to give them ALL an equal chance. If they don't choose to do it - it isn't anyone's fault but their own.

Hi Alan and Jim R.
My post wasn’t in reference to either of you directly ... believe it or not .. as you both add so much to the site, and Im well aware that any new topic deserves a thread or two. But when 7 or 8 threads are running at the top of the latest posts page ... somethings not right.

Ah! That's the dog alright! Thankyou, Jean-Bernard. I just couldn't figure the breed right from the Masterbox preliminary pics. Needs more jowl for sure, doesn't he? Definately needs bigger hooves, too!
As for the women, well they all can't be movie stars can they?
Cheers!

Dont wish to prolong the discussion, but all of us have different views on different things a lot of stuff that appears on A doesnt interest me but I read the posts.I especially look forward to "new releases"and we are fortunate that we are given the details and images straight off the press and in some depth.I also think that any topic that generates interest input and discussion is worthwhile because thats what our hobby is all about. So keep em comming please Jim.

As a dio builder myself, Bring em on. The deversity is much needed and greatly appriciated . Though they won't be seen by many as usefull, the dio builders will clamer all over these types of figures. Inside a caberet, a bomb shelter, an office or at the end of the war as p.o.w.s , it is a welcome set. When they get here, who knows, but eventually they will get out like all releases. Thanks MasterBox for listening and coming through, and Jim, thanks for the posting.

Regardless what everybody will say... I like this new direction that Masterbox is steering in.
There is a lot that can be done in scale with this subject. And the first set looks very promising. Although I'mleaning more to the german gals because that is more into my area of interest.
Found an interesting picture in the private collection... could be her sister
I personally hope Masterbox will continue on this. BDM, RAD girls, Luftwaffehelferinnen, FlakHelferinnen, BlitzMädel, HJ, Radio personell, Luftschutz, Medical personell/nurses. There is plenty to choose from.
