Hi Folks,
following on from the recent MB announcment on Women at War and being as British Subjects always lag far behind, I though I'd post a few subjects that might be of interest, in the off chance anyone reads this:
There is probably no more famous woman than our own Queen. Here she is as the then Priness Elizabeth.
On to lesser mortals but no less important in their contribution
In the air
on Land, in all manner of rolls from air defence and research to tea and buns
at sea
Looking after the troops
Yip it's good to see them in their dress uniforms but lets not forget that these ladies often did dirty and dangerous work and it would be good to see that protrayed too.

Hey guys,
Here's another one of that young lady, Beth Windsor.

Now that would be an interesting diorama to do.

Hi John,
Hats off to your mum .
John J, nice pic of HRH.
MB have a good idea with the W at W series, I hope they don't get stuck in the smart dress mode and add in a few ladies at work so to speak.
Cheers

Alan, EXCELLENT work - thanks for posting them.
Don't be shy about passing anything like this on to Masterbox directly either - they'll be delighted to have more material to work with

Yep it would be nice to see our "sisters in arms" in battledress (not a pun) love the way the tin lids are perched on the backs of their heads in the photos dont spoil the hair do,dont think the s/major would agree.Has plenty of potential for a vignette two ladies being shouted at by marm or s/major.

Hi Jim,
IWM has about 350 colour and 5400 plus B & W pics - just search under Home Front there are lots of possibilities there. Also a good selection under Royal Navy.
A few more as I forgot to add the land girls
Coming home on leave

Nice photos Alan.
Thanks for posting them.
One of these days I'll figure out how to use the IWM site.

Hi John,
MB have a good idea with the W at W series, I hope they don't get stuck in the smart dress mode and add in a few ladies at work so to speak.
I remember seeing a diorama in an old issue of Scale Modeler from the early 1990's that I'd love to try for myself.
it was of a couple of "Rosie the Riveters" sitting on top of a Sherman on the production line.
Whomever scratch built this diorama did a great job converting the male figures available at the time.
I felt (and still feel) unskilled enough to attempt a similar diorama.
I hope MB decides to include a few "Rosies" in their "Women at War" series so I can try and emulate that old diorama.
Cheers

Some more modern female soldiers in battledress from all different militaries would be nice. There are all kinds of possibilities for OIF and OEF dios with female soldiers.

I really like the pics of HRH (and I'm a Yank), these would make for a great figure/vignette. I also lke the homecoming pic that could anywhere at time, but my fave is the ambulance driver putting on lipstick. Being American, what I'd like to see is some "Rosie the Riveteer" figures, maybe a set including an African American "Rosie"
