Hello All, I'm getting ready to return to the US from Iraq in about a month and I'm gonna start on my Abrams Dio. I have a idea of what I want to do but I need some help. I plan on building a Abrams running over a civilian car. Now I been looking around and the only civillian cars I found in 1/35th are either Beetles or the MIG burnt out car. I just want something simple and cheap so I dont blow a whole lot of money just to make it look like it has been crushed. Another option is have a Feyadeen Technical vehicle running around trying to take out the brute. If anyone has any suggestions I would gladly appreciate it. Once I get started I will send pics of my progress.

Hi
Arii has released several 1/32 plastic car kits (mostly Japanese models from the 1950s to the 1980s). You can find them on eBay at low prices like this one :
The scale discrepancy shouldn't be a problem if you plan to turn one into something like this

I will second Frenchy's recommendation. I have used a few of the Arii 1/32 car models as junked or torn apart civilian cars w/my armor. The scale difference is not that big of a deal.
Also, take a look on eBay for 1/32 Monogram, AMT, MPC, Revell, and Ertl civilian cars and truck models. The Monogram/Revell ones from the '80s are great. I have used a bunch of them as well.
Monogram has a 1/32 Chevy Malibu that is perfect. I looks amost the same as all the older Chevy Impalas that are running around Iraq....and what is under the tank in the above picture.
I took two 1/32 Revell Toyota trucks and mated them together to make a SF crew cab too. You can see it here to see how they can come out.
Where are you in Iraq? I'm on Victory at MND-C HQ.

Hey thanks guys, I was wondering about the size difference, but not im a little at ease. I'm also at Camp Liberty as well. I got one month to go and it's freedom bird time. Now I can start my planning process and buying my supplies.

I have a 1/32 early 1960's Cadillac Deville convertable that I was going to do a DS M1 crew searching an abandoned car loaded with loot. I thought pink or turqoise and white would be so cool. A flat tire and discarded AK's on the front seat, back seat covered in TV's and framed paintings.
Boxes in the stash, a little tangle with cancer slowed it down for a while, then kids in college and looking at retirement soon.

I know the 1/32 Monogram Caddy you are talking of. I wouldn't use it in an ODS dio though. I haven't seen any old Caddys in the Middle East. There are lots of early '80s Impalas though, and lots of Opels and 4-door cab mini-trucks.

I'd recommend the Arii models. They are nice little kits. Simple and well detailed. I purchased two as I have a very similar idea in the early planning stages. I posted nearly the exact same question a few months ago.
