I got PE sets for the Abrams. But it says I have to remove the OLD parts from the kit and put the new PE parts on.The ones that are molded on.
I don't know any techniques to do this, is there any special ways you go about doing this.I have never put PE on my models before only 2 replace the plastic parts with PE part but never had too remove something before. Is it hard.
Do I sand them off, cut them off or is there any other way some one else does it.Or a tool I can use.
Happy Modeling

It's not hard Tom, you just have to be careful not to remove too much. As for how to do it, you can either use a sharp knife, sandpaper or file. Maybe even a Dremel if you're really careful. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

you got two methods right straight away sand and cut, you can also scrape them off with a curved scalpel blade and then sand the surface smooth.

dont sand those unwanted detail in your kit, instead use the chisel type hobby knife blade.
to avoid lossing kit details you dont want to remove.

I will confess to being a huge fan of the Mission Models Micro Chisel. It gives a much greater degree of control for removing small objects like molded hinges, and is exceptional for removing narrow linear features.
