Hello all

Majority photos from WWII are black-white, that removes us from those dramatic events. However, colour photos cause, that we see that times, as everything happened just yesterday!

Here, unique photos of Polish Campaign 1939 in colour:

Polish TK- 3

Captured Polish TKS

Captured Polish Renault FT-17

Polish bunker

Captured Polish Ursus wz. 29 heavy armoured car

Destroyed Panzer II in Warsaw 1939

I will add these two photos else:

German SdKfz 222 somewhere in Poland

German SdKfz 231 destroyed by Poles

Great photos Adam

Is that a painted-out insignia of some sort on the back of the TKS in the first photo?

Hi Adam. Thanks very much for the excellent photos.
The burnt out pzr II looks interesting ... almost a perfect example for Adam Wilder´s colour modulation ... see the turret ports versus turret colour and wheels versus lower hull.

I don't know anything about the TKS or Polish markings but do you think it might be where an on-vehicle tool ( an axe maybe) used to be attached?

Cheers,

This image doesn't show any signs of tool stowage in that area, to my eye it looks like a painted out gauntlet holding a sword

The same colour photo is reproduced on the page where I borrowed the image above, I hadn't realised it was one of Hugo Jaeger's.

Thanks guys

Photos of Polish equipment in colour there is work of German photograph Hugo Jaeger. Yes, the burned out Panzer II really looks interesting.

David and Tim - I have reviewed hundred of photos of Polish TKS or TK-3 (and other vehicles)and I saw different signs like this on Polish tanks. According to regulations from year 1938, Polish tanks had no tactical markings.
Probably, new regulation issued in 1939, about come-back of markings.
But on some tanks, were painted personal emblems(?) or unofficial emblems of units - there is more probable. This hand with sword is placed also in emblem of 2nd Armoured Battalion.

Anyway, it is not explained...

I don't know why I hasn't noticed this!

And everything becomes bright slowly...for 2nd Armoured Battalion belonged 101st Reconnaissance Tank Company and Reconnaissance Tank Squadron(from 10th Motorized Cavalry Brigade). Both of these units were equip in TK-3 and TKF.
Probably, there is tank from some of these units...
