In several Sherman references there are small rectangular boxes welded to port and starboard interior walls at about knee level next to the driver and co-driver positions. There is a notch on the inward-facing surface of the box. All my reference shows them empty or hollow. What is it's function? The master of Sherman arcania who answers this will receive a lavishly decorated thank you email. Anybody?

Periscope stowage, the notch is for the screw that clamps the periscope to its mount, there's a similar cut-out in the periscope mounts in the hatches.

Great deal David.
Wonder if we could get him to send a Cyber Cigar instead of that Flowery Email?

Thank you Jeff. Are the periscopes stored as they fit into the hatch? (Are cyber-cigars P.C.?) Here's another one. In the M-32 "turret" where the turret ring would be are brackets, shelves? I'm guessing .50 cal. storage since they are close to the right size, but it seems an excessive amount of ammo given the 32's function. What did they stow here?

Eric: the M32 was a mobile workshop. Both sides of the interior floor were fitted with a bank of drawers. Above in the turret were other fixtures such as 3 grenade storage boxes of four each, eleven 81mm mortar rounds, 3 MG ammo storage boxes, antenna storage, signaling flag set.
You can get a copy of the M32 TRV's tech manual TM9-738 from Easy1 Productions. Hope this helps.
