I'm just wondering if someone can help my identify this figure. I saw it listed on ebay a while ago, but the auction ended before I had a chance to place a bid. Have been searching for it but haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

Hi

That'll be one of the figures sculpted by the great John Rosengrant and made by S&T.

Depending on were you are you should find a stockist. In the UK its AFV Modeller

P.S. If it's on ebay coming out of China it'll be a rip off, illegal copy, probably for sale by that A hole Toy-in.

No, the auction was not out of China, it was from Poland.

Hi

Well if it doesn't come from an official distributor, branded and boxed S&T, or from a private individual selling the model in the same condition it's probably a knock off. Check what colour the resin is, or how its finished with pouring blocks to remove.

This is the biggest problem to hit talented people like the sculptors who make these great figures, and if goes unchecked by Ebay or worst, supported by people buying these counterfeit figures then eventually the genuine figure companies will close one by one and no new figures will come on to the market..

Sorry but I get sick of seeing these "stolen" goods on Ebay without them lifting a finger to stop it.

Should have explained that the seller sold them as mounted and primed, therefor the look of the figure. So I don't think it's a knock off. Link to auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160249482212&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

Dunno Thomas. I'm not convinced. Why is there the need for anyone to prime a figure to sell?
I reckon this is to cover the dodgy resin casting colour. I tell you what. If it comes up again, see if you get the winning bid (But don't pay $25US like someone did for the one you linked! ) and check the resin. It should be an off yellow colour if it is an original S&T figure. Trust me, once you see their quality, there would be absolutely no doubt in your mind that you wouldn't prime it of fail to say it was an S&T figure by John Rosengrant when selling it!

Hi
I'm of the same opinion as Brad, and my gut feeling is this is a recast rip off. My reasons are.

1. If this was a original S&T figure you's want to tell people because in the figure world they and John Resengrant are held in high regard. I certainly would make a point of it should I be selling (a genuine one) this figure.

2. As Brad said, assembling and priming a figure is nothing and by far the hardest part is painting the detail, so like him I believe its there to cover up poor resin casting, pin holes etc. The figures right leg at the bottom shows a flaw quite badly. In the original this is a crease but looks like a hole here. If you had that purchased genuine and it had that flaw you'd return it and get a replacement no problem.

3. They don't call it by it's correct model reference number STP35009 but something they've made up.

4. My last point, and this confirms this seller is a counterfeiter, as the name rang a bell is this sale some time ago

This is a rip off of an Alpine Miniature figure.

So all in all I 'd say this is an no way an original S&T Products figure, add to that it went for $25 when you can buy the "original" for half that price.
