Hey all,
i have this set and am wondering what the difference is between the A and B versions are.... they seem to provide parts for a variation of turret interior where instead of the 6 rounds along the back (like in the academy kit), they have you stow 5 rounds (2 on one side, 3 on the other) on the sides of the turret.
any idea what that is all about?
Thanks!!
Andy

Probably to make it look like one round was fired. Give it that slightly used look I guess. As far as I know there were three ready rounds mounted on each side. I’m currently building Academy’s 1/35 M10 Duckbill with the Aber interior set. Which kit are you building?

I also finished the kit and i think R J hit it I left one out myself without even seeing that gives it a better look.

thanks for the imput, but i dont think that is quite what they had in mind, as the 2nd version has the ready round stowage in additional places than what is in the kit.
see here...

notice how the "A" version has what appears to be aditional brackets for a ready round near the top edge of the turret side and rear, but no additional rounds along the sides. B version has a additional 5 rounds stowed on the sides (2 on one side, 3 on the other) where you have to provide the added ammo...all this is in addtion to the 6 rounds stowed in the rear.
im just really currious to what vehicles had this mod, and if it pertains to a certain unit, french/british, or is something they just came up with...
And im building the Academy kit of the mid production 3" M10. A nice kit overall (except they just give you 3 bar cleat track when some rubber chevon or block would have been better). With the added detail from the eduard kit, this will be a real nice build, especally the interior.

That’s very interesting. I have a couple books on the M10, I’ll take a look and see if there is anything mentioned about that configuration. I’ll let you know if I find anything.

I couldn’t find anything on the placement of those extra rounds. So far everything I’ve seen just shows the six rounds mounted in the back of the turret and like the “A” version on the Eduard set with the various boxes mounted on the side walls. Post some photos of your tank, I’d like to see it. I’m having a bit of a rough time with the interior on mine with that Aber set. I had to fabricate a new floor board since alot would need to be removed from the kit supplied part. The escape hatch looks alot better but it’s a shame most of it will be hidden once all’s said and done. One thing that’s bugging me is the ratchet assembly for the drive breaks (part #53 on your set) I assembled them correctly but the two saw tooth looking parts taper instead of being parallel to one another.

Thanks for the help! Ill stick with the "standard" outfitting that photos support. Im really currious where they came up with the other version.
Ill post pictures as I build it. Im doing it as a "lunch break" build, so it gets about an hour a day...untill it needs painting then it heads home for finishing. Ive only just now started putting together the interior, and have some PE floor plates in place. One thing I did notice, it it appears that the escape hatch on the interior parts doesnt line up with the hatch on the hull bottom! not that big of a deal, and who will notice?
thanks again, and ill probally start a build log soon.
keep me posted on your build as well!

Academy's M10 is a horror show as far as the interior goes - the firewall is too far back which throws things out to start off with. Doesn't do much for the engine either....

I noticed there is alot of detail missing from the engine bay like the fire extinguisher nozzles, radiator fan blades, and things like that. I ended up filling in the backside of the firewall, which caused it to bow a little. The engine looks a little small in comparison to the rest of the tank. I’m going to have to dry fit the rest of the interior and see what it looks like. If it’s too noticeable I’ll see if I can move things forward a little. We’ll see what happens. Thanks.

Well a shameless plug here.
I liked the kit but will not care to see how accurate it is.
AFV Club was supposed to be the best.
Here is my Academy one.
Sorry for the Hijack.
Kind of enjoyed the kit.

The power pack is definitely undersized, it should extend through the firewall instead of stopping short - the raised areas on the fighting compartment floor are there to cover the generators mounted on top of the engines.

well, i guess lucky for me the mid version doenst come with an engine, so no temptation to open that baby up...
I got the drivers station done yesterday, w/ all the PE from eduards set in the area...so now that is glued into the hull with the tranny and first section of the driveshaft.
