Hi, does anyone know if any of the major photo etch manufacturers make tool clips for U.S. armour (WWII). I've had a look at most sites and cannot see any (could just be word blindness on my part)!
Any help would be appreciated.

I know most Sherman etch sets have the piece for the axe, the crow bar, shovel, etc. I don't know if anybody makes the tie downs that the straps go through. Formations make a great set of tools with finely molded clips already in place

I recently used two etch sets by Voyager, one for the DML M4A2/Sherman III and one for the Tasca/DML Firefly. Both include a large fret of straps and buckles--enough for two or even three tanks. Another fret in each of those sets includes enough tie-downs for a couple models. The strap fret is labeled M2A1 Halftrack so it must come with that set too. You can easily make most of the other US tool brackets from leftover etch rails. A fret of fine chain is also really useful for securing track tensioning tools, armored gas caps, and the plugs for dismountable headlights.

The Eduard straps and belts are etched together in most sets, which makes installation much easier than actually trying to thread a belt through a microscopic gap in a tie down (though the old On The Mark sets offered just that, for the more manic builder). An even easier alternative is the beautifully molded resin tools with belts attached available from Formations.

Hi Gerald, Formations have been mentioned before. Thanks for the info though and given my early frustrating attempts to use really small etched parts maybe that's the way to go!!
