I have my plaster of paris base and I could fuss over it for days over little details but I've made peace with it and I think I'm ready to paint. To paint the base, could I spray primer it or would I be better with paint on primer? Or, will regular acrylic paint bond well to plaster of paris and not require any primer at all? This is my 3rd attempt at making this base so I'm not willing to test out what method works best on my own so I need all your experience. Thanks

Hi there!
I always use a thin layer of a water based sealer for the plaster, then paint it with acrylics. (z-10 from Sherwin Williams makes the trick for me )
In my experience, it is better that way.
Cheers!

If you´ve made a base from plaster of paris .... and probably scribed details into it ... its a good idea to paint it with a mix of white glue and water. This will soak in and reduce dust, work as a primer, and ensure you dont easily scrape away paint in the future.
Then paint in your usual fashion!
