hi
sorry i dont know, i've never built the tamiya kit. but this dragon kit is going together great, really nice fit. n the detail is really good. given the age of the tamiya kit that is what would probubly let it down abit, the fine detail.
some of the bits suprised me, like the front plate of the hull, has 6 holes for the bolt holes that hold the towing points on. i have done it leaving one off and the side skirts in the kit look great, i havent yet built them, but they will be on the finished tank, or some of them will be!
there is still alot of small bits to add to the hull, the casemate is about done though, thats why i painted it. i just was impatiant to see what my zimm looked like painted!

The Tamiya kit while being top of the line of its days suffers from wrong angles and proportions in more or less every part of the super structure. Also has mixed features from the early and mid versions.

As a kit its a good build and could be enchanced to a neat model.

Cheers

Neil, that is one nice looking Brummbar so far, I was wondering though why you didn't paint it all at once. Looking good don't give up now!

Hi Neil. Excellent neat build. How did you tackle the zimmerit? I purchased a Brummbar recently and have been a bit apprehensive about doing it. Any pointers will be appreciated : ) Regards Paul

hi
thanks again for the comments. i've slowed down on the building at the moment, works got in the way abit, but i'll update soon.

paul: the zimmerit was easier than i thought it was going to be, as i said its the first time i have done it on a model and i picked the brummbar to do it on as it has nice large flat sides...... i did it with tamiya basic putty and the tamiya zimm tools.
i did it alittle diffrent to the instructions though..... rather than covering the model side with a layer of putty and then pulling the tool through it......i simply sqeazed abit of putty onto a piece of card and then picked up some on the side of the tool and dragged it across the surface, this way i found it was nice and fine, not to thick as sometimes it can look abit over scale on a model i feel. i felt its the old saying of ''less is more'', dont worry to much about the holes in the side for the armored skirt rail fittings and the pistel ports, if you go thin enough with the putty then you only need to scrape them clean with the tip of a new blade, no probs. if you have any more questions feel free to e-mail me i'll try and help.

cheers
neil
