Hi
First post and I'm already asking for some help(!)
I am after any information anyone can supply on a specific sherman, most of all i'm after pictures but any info would be great!
The Sherman I need info on is the one called 'Killer' on the photo on this link....
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:M4-sherman-killer-kwajalein.gif
I think that this is a M4A2 - Can anyone confirm?
What 'in-field' modifications would this tank have had, ive heard of bird-cages and nails on the hatches, would either of these been applicable to this tank?
I think the photo was taken on Kwajalein Atoll and was a tank of the 767th Tank battalion..... anybody confirm?
Has anybody got any front views of this tank or any general shots of shermans of the type they would have been using at this time?
Basically any info about this tank or the type used at this time by the 767th would be great!
Thanks
Adam

Killer is a USMC M4A2. The 767th Tank Bn was a U.S. Army unit and they used M4A1's.

Adam:
I have done a model of this tank in 1/72 scale
This is what I have discover: First there are two pictures:
->the second you have already post the link to it on your first post
From the first picture you can see the co-drive hatch open and that makes this M4A2 a small hatch early 56º front armor slope. You can see on both pictures (quite obvious) that it has wood planks on the side hull and it still has the "wadding trunk" installed.
What I did not discover was if the wood was applied directly to the hull side or if it had some space between the wood and the hull side and in this last possibility if that "space" was left as it is was if it was filled with concrete (all possibilities used by the USMC)
Can't help with the unit sorry.

The unit is the 4th Tank Bn of the 4th Marine Division - they are actually on Roi-Namur, twin islands across the lagoon from Kwaj...
I think this photo was taken on Namur itself, but I will need to look at my 4th Tank Bn history.
