Hi everyone

I'm new on here however I have a long term interest in modelling.
My question concerns the binoculars the germans used. In particular i'm interested in the type that looks like a "V" ? Unlike normal binoculors they reach above the head of the user. Does this make sense? Anyone know of a manufactorer that includes these with any figure set or accessory set or maybe an armour kit?

Try looking for the Tamiya 1/35 German Observation Group Plastic Figure set (35073), its an older kit, but has the bnocs I think you are refering to.

Hi

Tristar do a great set of these. Forget the Tamiya set in my opinion. The set is really old, figures are undersized, soft in detail and should have been ditched years ago.

I'm not sure if you get figures in the set and availability in your location, but reckon Luckymodel.com etc. will have them mail order.

You might find the DML German Staff Officers set more widely available, there is an example in this set. The Tamiya set is very crude in comparison, although it also includes a telescope on a tripod (also crude).

I forgot, if you want one folded up, there's one in the Tamiya Steyr 1500 kit, made to fit in a box. This is a much better rendering, but of course you wouldn't buy the Steyr just for a set of binoculars...

Thanks Rob, Alan and Steve for your quick replies.

The old Tamiya set was the one I remembered, thanks for reminding me. The Tristar certainly look exactly like what I am looking for.

I suppose the bonus if I bought the Steyr is I get a free truck with my expensive periscope!!
