Work continues on the Dragon M4A3E8… Ive done the filters, wash, and drybrushing on the tank itself as preliminary steps toward final weathering, and installed the tracks (which still need some work). While I was painting the base, I hit the lower areas of the Sherman with the same color for the start of dust effects.
The base is getting painted. This is the first time ive tried gluing down everything, and painting everything a dark grey, then using the airbrush to start painting the rubble, wall, street, etc. At first things didn’t look right, but now as I detail out more colors and weather more, its starting to look right. The bashed in 55gal drum is a piece of aluminum foil, folded 3 times (for thickness), and then embossed over a plastic oil drum. Takes a bit of patience, but once removed from the “master”, it can be dented, ripped, and peppered with holes just like a real metal can.

Here is some more details ill be adding as I build up clutter and debris…the box was made from art paper, cut and folded (to be half under the tank treads, crushed), and the newspaper was found from an interenet image search, scaled down and printed.

I need to turn some attention to the natural ground areas behind the Sherman, then attach the Sherman to the base, some stowage, crew figures, and final details and weathering.
