Hi everyone
I am new to these forums as well as to modeling. I would of posted pics sooner but it is very hard not to be intimidated of doing so, because you are all so outstanding at what you. I genuinely mean that, My son and I get a lot of enjoyment from just visiting this site and looking at all your models.
Anyway, My son and I have gotten into doing models (been at it about 2 months now) and I have just completed my first vehicles and thought I would post some pics here to share.
This was my first model. A test subject for me to learn how different techniques give different effects. I have since removed the paint with oven cleaner and will be starting it over now.

This is my second tank (along with the Panzer). It is and OOB Tamiya kit from 1992. I figure it should be another good learning model for me. I am almost done with it. Just need to finish the tracks, stowage, and minor touch-ups.

I have a picture of my 11 yr old son's first figure he completed but I know this is the armor board so I will post his pic on the appropriate board.
Lastly, I just want to say how great I think you guys are at what you do and say how much of a pleasure it is looking at pictures of your models - it's inspiring.

They look pretty good to me. A couple pointers though. When you redo the panzer, the inside of the hatch should be the same color as the exterior, not white. On the Abrams, it looks as though it is depicting a modern one (OIF timeframe) by the inclusion of the Combat Id Panel (CIP), which were developed after ODS. Do not put the hull-mounted APU (box in the bustle rack) on the right rear. The hull-mounted APU was only used for a short time in the late '80s to early '90s. It was replaced w/the bustle rack APU right after ODS, '90-'91. Looking good, keep building and posting.

Frank:
Looks good. Hang in there. It's great that your son is involved too. There's alot to learn from people who hang out here, but you don't have to learn it in a day. Enjoy the process of learning new techniques and don't forget to share something that you've learned. That's what makes this site great! As you are able, be sure to post you and your son's work. You will be amazed at the progress you make over time. Also, something to think about down the road: consider joining a local club like AMPS or IPMS if you've got one. Being a member can be a lot of fun and allows you to meet people in your area with similar interests.
Cheers.

Thank you for the pointers and kind words, it's appreciated. Hopefully I will have the Abrams finished this weekend and can get going on to the Panzer.
I have a Dragon Abrams AIM kit that I can't wait to start - it will be my first time trying PE so it should be interesting. I just have to keep myself from rushing the other two kits to get to it.

Thanks again for the warm welcome guys, it's appreciated. My son and I are having an absolute blast doing models together and going to art shops for supplies etc. He loves the figures and I am into the armor.
A quick question, as I have a Dragon Abrams AIM kit waiting for me to build, do I need any special tools for the PE? There doesn't seem to be much PE but there is some and I have never done PE before.
Thanks
Frank

Some people use a tool called teh Etch-Mate to assist in bending PE. I find if you go slow, using common tools like a metal straight edge, needlenose pliers, etc., you can bend them just fine.

Ok great I will give it a try and see how I do with what I already have here. I also bought a bottle ZAP CA pink bottle. What is the most common glue used by everyone for resin / PE?
Thanks Gino

Well it’s tough to say…see everyone has their own special glues they use. Me…I’d like to use the Blue Insta-Cure super thin 1-3 sec. glue. My only suggestion is to play around to see what is comfortable for you.
