I just bought DML's Korean war era Pershing and was wondering if anyone here had built this kit. I've heard good things about it, but some first-hand knowledge would be nice. Thanx

I have not built it yet but just scored one on e-bay for cheap (cinsidering what they are going for nowadays)....expensive kit indeed

KMM--- I built that bad boy when it first came out. Seems to me that was in '94. Regardless, a superb kit in every way. Mine is mostly built straight out of the box. The suspension system was the most detailed and interesting to build aspect of the model. I used a Rubio gun tube. Very nice. Put some junk on the back deck and a searchlight on her. I do recall having to use putty to seal a space on the back deck, but other than that she is a beauty to build.

I'm really slowly tinkering around with mine - but I wholeheartly agree with DJ - I think the Pershing is a sweet kit too so far. Nothing compels me to buy anything aftermarket - save perhaps an aluminum gun barrel. Only thing that doesn't look that fun is the tracks. Gotta be a million parts there

Gunnie--I bought the AFV T-16 track for the M-8 HMC recently built. It looks great, but Lord, did it take forever to finish. I lovingly gazed into the Tamiya 105 kit and was amply rewarded upon seeing vinyl track. Sometimes, we can carry a challenge too far.

I hear you - the individual track links are a real time-sucker! Give me a nice set of vinyl any day :-) - I don't think anyone really wants to subject themselves to pain

I'e been sitting on the DML Pershing for about a year now. I guess I was waiting for a review of it to get started on it. It's always nice to have some sort of words from someone who has built the kit you are about to. Better than going in totally blind.
Okay so I have no more excuses...sooner now than latter I shall start her.
Ohh...and talk about a forever build. I bought the T16 tracks about two years ago and every now and than when I'm waiting for something to dry, I'll clip off some links and clean em up. At this rate, I figure in around late '05 early '06 I should be done with them.

Thanks, guys, sounds like a great kit. What is the going rate for one of these, anyway? From what I've seen online, they go for at least $40. I got mine off e-bay for $20, but blew most of my savings on airmail shipping from Hong Kong - it wound up around $35. I would have gone the $7 surface shipping, but it would take two months and I'm going to be out of town at about that time - wouldn't want it to be sent back because I wasn't around to pick it up. 
Still seems like I got a decent deal on a great kit. :-)

I still have the shipping invoice for mine. The retail price at www.towerhobbies.com was $33.99, with $4.99 shipping. I had a $10 coupon so I paid a grand total of $28.98. The invoice is dated 10/29/00.

Oh well, at least I saved a few bucks on it. For that matter, I can't find this kit either online or in a local hobby store - I'm wondering if its out of production or just rare. Can't wait to get it, this will be my first post-WWII armor! :-)

Both of DML's Pershing are out of production. (OOP)
DML has anounced the re-release of the T 26E3...I'm waiting ever so patiently. I have not heard any news of the M26 though.

On my weekly visit to the Hobby Shop, I saw the DML M-26 Pershing. Obviously, it is the re-issued item. Seems to me it went for whooping $39 plus. Ouch!

I was lucky and scored a T-26E3 for $30 in the vendors room at KC Con a few weeks ago. I also picked up the Eduard PE set for the M26. It's really going together nice. Does anyone make aftermarket 3rd Armored Div. markings for this beast? The kit only contains markings for a single vehicle.

Bob--I have not seen any 3rdAD marking specifically for the M-26 series. What 3AD unit bumper markings are you trying to replicate?

I just got mine on e-bay for $24.05, and with $3.45 in shipping I feel I practically stole this kit...can't wait to see it :-)

Chappy--she is one beauty of a kit. Look up some of the vintage Korea era photos and try to replicate the searchlight mount. Nice kit. The track will take you time, but it is well invested. Let us see some photos!
