As the title says, I'm looking for pictures of building in the southern Ardennes Forest during the Bulge. I've looked in all the books I have and can't find any.

Any help is appreciated.

The book that comes to mind is The Battle of the Bulge Then & Now. Check RZM imports for a copy, hope you got deep pockets for it. Their are probably less expensive books out there you can use. I would think someone will add something that might help out.

Samuel,

do you look for pictures of houses?
In the Ardennes of today there are so many old houses (even from the beginning of the last century) still standing and in use, that a google search with such terms as "ardennes immeuble maison "ardennes" " (specifying that the word ardennnes must be in the link found, otherwise you are quickly in the muddy waters of house ads)

If you specify what you are looking for , i can eventually have a picture on my HD

Cheers
Claude

Samuel, back many yrs. ago when I got the TankWorkshop loco I searched train stations in the Ardennes region for a possible project.
Yes they are train stations but also have some terrain and other structure features.
The first one is my favorite from Namur province.
I've got other Ardennes structure refs somewhere I'll keep looking - Glenn

Thanks for all the helpful replies.

@ Joe and Barry: Thanks for the pointers.

@ Claude: I'm mainly looking for shops - especially those that would be in the middle of a city such as Bastogne. Your build log has also been very helpful.

@ cheyenne: Thanks for the pictures. Even though they're train stations, they're still helpful.

BTW, I intend to scratchbuild the building out of plaster of Paris. Is this going to be too weak?

Thanks again,
Samuel

Look a bit down, there is a thread about pictures for a wine shop.

In the link provided by frenchy you can do the search i mentionned. Put the word "dévanture" in the field "texte libre"
You find a mass of pictures of shop front views. I skimmed it and you can use the majority of those views for a setting in the Ardennes. The speciality of the Ardennes houses would be a slate roof for example.

You can make the house with plaster, no problem. Just don't throw it around! :-)

Cheyenne the one photo says Hockay... when I saw that I rolled a little because it reminded me of the Samurai guys in the 3rd TMNT movie.

My only question is in what field should I put the search term "ardennes immeuble maison "ardennes"? I don't read French very well.

Thanks

Ola Samuel

This might be of some help to you. The buildings are of the typical type found all over the Ardennes region.

and this link
http://www.culture.gouv.fr/public/mistral/memoire_fr?ACTION=RETOUR&USRNAME=nobody&USRPWD=4%24%2534P

The last field "Texte libre" is the search field

the name "dévanture" is a shop's front

I'm assuming you mean the link Claude mentioned? He was referring to a link referenced by Frenchy in the post French wine shop picture wanted circa 1940.

Here is the site, and here is the search engine.

did you use that link

You may not know the necessary french words i suppose

try simply the word "maisons" like houses

You will get some 8000 hits with plenty to choose from, also rowhouses
