My 11 year old son just got into models after seeing me get into it and I promised him I would share photos of his figures with you all here.
I am very proud of him, he is putting a lot of effort into it and most importantly, having a lot of fun doing it.

So there it is. He is even mixing his own colors now. It's great to see him so into something besides football and video games lol It is particularly cool to have him interested in something we can do together.
I will post some of my figures too when I can finally nail down the acu digital camo I have been working on.....argh.

Excellent start, you do realize your son is starting down the slippery slope early. By the time he is 14 he'll be like the rest of us with 30+ unbuilt kits laying.

Hi Frank,

Your son's got far better eyes than I have. His figures are very good, I especially like the desert camo pattern as it can be quite difficult to copy. Welcome to the hobby and good luck for future projects.

Wow. Those are just his first figures?

Tell him great job! I like the 5-o'clock shadow on the first GI.

Modeling AND Football? Sounds like the perfect combo to me. (Just not at the same time.)

I just let my son read all your kind comments and he is smiling from ear to ear - thank you.
He would like to reply:

"Thank you guys for the comments, it means a lot to me."

And Andy, he is particularly proud of his desert camo, he does it better then his dad so he is loving it lol

I am going to try my hand at ACU digital camo tonight (After trying the salt method and failing). I am going to try something different. I will post pics later so you guys can see the disaster lol
Thanks again everyone
Frank

Seriously - those are great first efforts. He's got an eye for detail already.

Keep at it, Kid - you're doin' great!!

Wow, nice first time work!

And BTW, a little suggestion, just add a little touch of pinkish color to the figure lips, to make the mouth stand out.

I think they're great.
When I got back into modelling, about 15 years ago,I had tried everything to find a hobby.
Nothing worked. And then I remembered that when I was about his age I used to love building models.I went out and bought a small kit to see if the attraction was still there.
Since,I have been addicted.
Tell him he's doing a fabulous job.
I have often posted that manufacturers need to produce more modern kits to keep the younger generation interested in this hobby.

@ Frank Jr....Great job little man. Your figures are far better than mine when I frist started. In no time you'll master figure painting and combat vehicles. Keep up the great work and keep us posted on your work.

Joe

Here is my son's latest figure. It's his first resin figure (I built it for him as he is too young to mess with the CA glues) He still has to do his washes and face detail but I think he is doing outstanding job with it so far. He's better then me lol Anwyay, he was dying for me to put it up and see what you guys think so far of it.

Side note: I noticed my two pics at the start of the thread are gone. Were they deleted by photobucket or simply not showing up because I moved / renamed the folder they were in? Probably the latter I am guessing. I am always messing around with the folders in my photobucket account. Grrr.
