Can you help me
I would like to know if the Dragonwagon could trailer a King Tiger? If not could the tractor unit unit possibly tow it? I know they could pull & tow a Panther but I wanted to build the Dragon Wagon pulling/ towing the KT for American research purposes, the KT would be undamaged as it's ran out of fuel.
Thanks,
Kenny.

The KT would been way over the carrying capacity of that trailer. The Panther was over its rated load limit as it was.

I stand to be corrected but I think it would have been to much for it to even be towed.

Their is a picture of a Dragon Wagon towing a Panther in issue 140 of After the Battle magazine. I will be doing a review of the magazine and a picture is part of the review.
Hope to have everything sent in later today.

Combat rule--there are no rules. Overloading a vehicle is a a typical example of this principle.

Okay I guess i stand corrected. I thought that i had read on here somewhere that it was a different type of trailer that they used to carry that beast.

Jeff: in the veteran's link, I see no mention of the King Tiger being used on the M15 or heavier capacity M15A1 trailers. They mention hauling these heavies around but I wouldn't assume it was on the trailers. I've seen pics of a KT on the German railcar trailers, the Culemeyer (sp?) trailers

I'm not sure if the KT physically fits on the trailer? The Panther only just fits.

Okay - so I'm gathering the M26 12-ton Tractor pulled the 80-ton Culemeyer Trailer in that article, right?

If so, that would be something interesting to model.

I read an article regarding moving one of the first Tiger II's captured in the Ardennes, using the Dragon Wagon. Even though it was quite cold and snowy, the biggest problem they had was overheating the trailer tires and blowing them out.

Yeah, Frenchy! Like that scooter is going to pull the KT on the trailer! LOL!

I guess that a M26 could pull a Culemeyer trailer.

In fact the Culemayer trailer picture has nothing to do with the article Several vehicles were implied including a Terrängdragbil (Tgb) m/46 (based on a Brockway truck) :

But there's no trailer listed.... Maybe the M26A1 towed the KT while another heavy truck was used to push them (with a little help from the Sherman ??), a technique still used with some heavy transports...

Hi!
As far as I know even if the tank simply ran out of fuel the crew usualy throw a granate inside while abandoning the vehicle to prevent usage of the tank by enemy. Probably there were some KTs that were simply abandoned but still I wouldn't leave it 100% untouched .

BTW: a lot of great pics on the mentioned links!

hi
i think i am right in saying, if they where going to pull the tank on the road then they normaly took the tracks off, i guess it would roll easier like this. there are a few pic's about of panther tanks being pulled like this........that is how they are in the picture in the review of a book on here, issue 140 of After the Battle magazine.
