Hi all.

I'm currently in the process of doing two dio's at once, a Guam and Iwo dio.
Although i'm in the need of some reference material ( 1945 USMC uniform camo) preferably in color. There are load of pics on the net i somehow only manage to find are in black/ n white.

Any pic , or links to where i can find some, on 1945 USMC uniforms in color would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

/ Christian

Christian, At the front.com who make re enactors uniforms are very good. They have original material they work from. Also worth reading for the owner's comments.

There may be some film of Marines in action on you tube but you can't work out actual colours from old colour film.

Christian...

BE CAREFUL...USMC Camo uniforms were NOT worn on Guam or Iwo Jima...

The uniforms were worn mostly by the 2nd Marine Division and ParaMarines and Raiders...the units that served on Guam and Iwo DID NOT were the cammo...

Take my word for it...I am a Historian on staff at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and deal with this all the time...

Pat

The book

"United States Marine Corps- Uniforms, Insignia and Personal Item's of World War II"

by Harlen Glenn Schiffer Publishing (ISBN 0-7643-2264-8)

On page 99 Bottom right shows a picture of a Marine on Guam wearing P42 "Frogskin" Utilities Brown side out

And on page 137 states Marine Graves Registation Units on Iwo were photographed wearing P44 Frogskin Utilities (Would they be Segregated, aka "Montford Point Marines"?). Also Cannoneers of the 4th Div on Iwo wearing P44 Frogskin Trousers with Sage P41 Jackets

Banshee 3 Actual...

Montford Point Marines refer to any of the African American Marines who served during WWII...Graves Reg could have been either race...

As for references, go with what you want...I know the resources that we use...and which ones we don't...

S/F and cheers

Pat
