Just seen news of an upcoming release from Mr Tamiya,
1/35 Modern Elite - US Infantry. The figures are actually from CMK but their poses look ok , along with this is an assorted accessory set, weapons etc. This set could be very useful I think. Have a look at it on the "coming soon" section on www tamiyausa.com
Thanks, AndyC.

They look like the ICM figures which were really late 80's US figures (note the M60) added to the old Modern Accessory set.
Not much to get excited about given Tamiyas pricing.
Cheers

Yes, they are the older ICM figures. They are not really modern, per say. They are appropriate for late '80s to early '90s figures in their uniforms, gear, and weapons. The figures themselves are not too bad. They are better then most Tamiya, but not as good as Dragon figures.
They have been boxed in a few different versions by ICM. Here is one of the many ICM boxings.
The old Modern Accessory set isn't modern either. It came out in the early '80s to fill out thier M1 Abrams and M2 Bradley kits. It also included items for an M60A3 as well. Most of the gear has been replaced by now.
It seems that Tamiya doesn't really care about putting out anything new. Their "new" items are pretty much all reissues and reboxes of other company's kits and their older stuff. I am fully underwhelmed by them.

Hi Gino,
To be honest I suspected as much but I just wanted to let people know they are out there. Might come in handy for kitbashing figures though. Modern US Dragon figures are quite good but can be difficult to get hold of in the UK.
And if you think that's bad, try getting hold of modern French Army figures. Can someone release a set to go with their Leclerc (Please?).

If you are willing to spend a bit more, check out Blast models from France. They have a bunch of modern French figures and crewmen for the Leclerc in resin. They also have update/conversion sets for it, and for VABs and some other French vehicles and accessories.
