vallejo acrylics are the way to go, when you paint with them, dont forget to prime, and use almost wash like thinnes of the paints:)

Hi
If you are using Vallejo you may want to read up about them. Here is a good article taken from their web site.

Painting Guide

and here is some colour mixes which you might find useful, suggested by some of the best in the figure painting game.

Nice Job!! I have quick and dumb question: I've see several figure painters like yourself that attach the figure to what appears to be a tooth pick .. do you drill into the figure to append it to the stick your do you just glue it unto the figure? I usually apply tac to the bottom of the shoe and stick it to a bottle cap but it is not too stable and falls off at the most inappropriate moments

I like to drill a hole in the bottom of each foot and insert a length of brass rod in each hole. This serves two purposes, first it gives you a handle to hold while painting, and second, it gives you a way to attach the figure to the base. When the figure is painted and you want to attach it to the base, cut one piece of rod a little shorter than the other. Dip the longer rod in a drop of paint and touch it to the base where you want to place the figure and then drill a hole. Then dip the shorter rod in some paint and while inserting the longer rod in the hole you drilled, mark the spot for the second hole and drill. Brass rod is relatively soft and can be bent to help position your figure on his base. If for some reason your holes and rod don't quite line up (drill bits have a nasty way of walking) just make one hole a little bigger. I hope this helps. Al P.S. I have judged at shows where a poorly attached figure leapt off its base and, luckily, into my hand!

Thanks for sharing your technique!! I'll surely give it a try. Sounds easy and very practical.
