To Zimmerite or not to Zimmerite ??

I have just finished a Panzer IV H/J with zimmerite. I am at a crossroads in finishing this kit. The zimmerite has some slight pitting or damage to it, so my question to everyone is this,in 1/72nd scale the damage marks are very small but they are noticeable, should I just leave the damage marks alone or should I attempt to paint them in with the proper zimmerite color?
