Here's some in progress shots of my most recent project Dragon's Berge Tiger (P). I'm using the voyager PE set along with Model Kasten tracks .The zimmerit was applied using Tamiya poly putty and thier zimm tool.
The crane was built using parts from the voyager set and kit supplied one's. I replaced the plastic rod for the boom and outriggers that came with the voyager set with one's I made from aluminium tubing.
I also replaced the kit supplied chains with some I got from the model ship section of my LHS,the kit one's just didnt look right. and added a few grant line nuts .
I drilled out the shackels and made pins from streched sprue. I then mushroomed one end and drilled a small hole in the othe for the retaining pin that was made from copper wire.
The biggest pain in the butt so far in this build had to be these hinge's some of the smallest things I've ever had to work with .
..... but they sure look good when thier done.
Let me know what ya think all comments are most welcome.

That is some piece of work. I wish I could see good enough to buils things that small.
Makes me want to try harder to do things like that.

Hi Steve. All those little details really are a treat. Very clean build as well. What can I say .... an excellent build all-round. Looking forward to see this painted up!!

Hey guy's thanks for the kind words. This is my first go at a PE conversion and its not as bad as I thought. A little frustrating in the beginning, vague instructions and some tiny parts.
Funny thing is the first time I go all out it doesnt even have a turret LOL

Amazing work! Cleanly done, shame to cover it up with paint.

Rob, glad I was able to inspire you to stick around. Just got home after a fourteen hour day but I'll try to get the next instalment up later. Just a few more tweeks and checks and its off to the paint booth.
Speaking of that, Darryl I hear ya man. One of the other reasons I've shied away from doing all out PE jobs is that you have to cover it all up

Heres an update of my progress on the Berge Tiger,
Since the pictures I have of this vehical do not show where the tools were stowed I took a little artistic lic. with the placement. I also added a jerry can rack on the rear superstucture.

The kit supplied remote MG mount was lacking in detail so I scratched a new one using some scrap brass and plastic .

Now all I need to do is finish the MK tracks and its off to the paint booth.
More soon

Steve this build looks very interesting. I did not think I would like this kit but seeing your build I am starting to change my mind. Can you show me a close up of the PE, I would like to see how it differs from the PE in the Dragon Elephant and how far it goes underneath? thanks
Great buld log.

Steve I did see your CU above, how far underneath does it go? is it short like the Dragon PE or does it go under all the way like the plastic ones?

Steve,
I too have this kit on the shelf. So, quick question for you: What MK tracks are you using (number?)?
I really like what you did with the boom and outriggers....
very nice! I like to do the same thing; change out a kit's plastic "tube" type items with either aluminum or plastic tube. Seriously saves on warpage issues and seam lines!
The chain you used - did the package mention a "links-per-inch" by chance?
Great work....I hope mine will come out as nice!

your build is absolutely superb!
i'd love to see a "how to" on the zimmerit application. that right now is probably the single most intimidating thing i can think of to do.
i'm also interested in the chain sizes. i had never thought about the model ship accessory path before. usually i look for chains that come with cheap necklaces and pendants. your small PE work is why I have 4 different types of stereo microscopes. my old eyes need all the help they can get.
If it weren't for law enforcement and physics I would be unstoppable!

Hey I'm back been a little busy at the "real job" but I spent a few days at the bench and heres what i've got done
I added some more tools and scratched a jack block and clamp for the front fender I placed some tow hooks on the the other fender. Finished the tracks which are the ModelKasten sk 69s. and about the question on the link count I think it was 40 and 32 links per inch.
And here it is with the paint
Tonite I'll start the washes and the weathering so more pics soon
