I've just bought the Tamiya Sherman M4A1 and thought the top of it looked in need of something extra. Does anyone make any stuff like sandbags, boxes, bedrolls etc that would fit on to this kit?

Tamiya makes a Jerry Can set in 1/48. If you want to spend more, there are several companies that make resin stuf; Verlinden, Legend, Black Dog, MiniMali,.....
