Does anyone know some links, or pictures of dioramas, or models done on the Battle of the Aleutians? I know it'll probably see (++) (++) fly before I see one of these :-)

I have seen pics in books about the US and Canadian forces on the beaches at Kiska. I will try to get the book my father has and scan the pic. They were black and white though.

I don't know about any websites, but I can suggest a couple books you may want to track down. There are several good books on the Aleutian campaign, including "The Thousand Mile War," but these have lots of photos. You should be able to get them through Interlibrary Loan at your local public library.

"The Capture of Attu: Tales of World War II in Alaska" from the Northern History Library, Alaska Northwest Publishing Company, Anchorage, AK, ISBN: 0-88240-265-X

"The Forgotten War" by Stan Cohen, Pictorial Histories Publishing Company, Missoula, MT, ISBN: 0-933126-13-1

The Forgotten War, Volume Two" by Stan Cohen, Pictorial Histories Publishing Company, Missoula, MT, ISBN: 0-933126-70-0

When I was stationed in Alaska I saw several fantasitc dios of Aleutian war subjects, mostly aircraft: Jack Chennault's P-40 "Aleutian Tiger," Lend-Lease A-20s and P-39s, PBY Catalinas, the Akutan Zero, etc.

Also, one note of clarification: Attu was a full-fledged battle; Kiska was an invasion that met no resistance -- the Japanese had slipped out.
