Wow Keith…just beautiful. As I said earlier the truck looks awesome. The dio base is sharp, what did you use to make the guard rails. Question on the uniforms…which pattern is that, I’ve never seen that one.
Great Job,

its meant to be desert dcu, but it didn't quite turn out as i wanted due to me painting the figures late at night in crappy light, I didn't realise to after I had glued it all down how it looked. the figures will get another repaint in the next couple of weeks to correct them.
so rule #99 don't paint at night in crappy light when tired
cheers

The truck and base look awsome. Good job on them. As noted, the figures are not as great. Also of note, the standing guy (maybe the gunner too, can't tell) is wearing a JSLIST chemical suit. JSLIST was not worn after about mid April '03. The home-made armor trucks didn't start appearing until late Aug '03, when IEDs started appearing. It would be more accurate to have the figures in standard DCUs, not the JSLIST. Overall a great job. Few tweaks and it will be awesome.

First let me say this is just great! I really really like it. No need to beat a dead horse with the criticism of the unis.
Ps: Where did you get those figures?

thanks guys
the figures as i have said are going to get a repaint. The standing figure comes from the now defunct think-180 studio (hopefully MIG will re-release it soon. as I believe they own the moulds) the seated figure comes from the Azimut LAV riders set but had to be tweaked to get him to sit right.
I wanted the figures in desert camouflage so that there was some contrast in colour on the base with the truck being mainly green.
cheers

The DCU pattern uniform is good for the figures. Adds some colors to the whole dio. A repaint and they will look good. The green color should be a very pale khaki-green. Testors MM SAC Bomber tan is close. I have mixed my own color as well.
The particular uniform on the standing figure is not correct for the time period of the truck though. The Chemical suits were no longer worn when the home-made armor was seen on vehicles.

I did think that, but it was the only figure i could find that gave me a bit of a "Mad Max" look i wa after. I think i will have to suffer the artistic licence on that

Hi Keith,
First.....Great Model!!
Now I want to do one in 1/72.
But that will have to wait till I finish my tour in Iraq.
I do have a small criticism though..........
The M2HB .50 cal loads from the left side (unless you modify it)
all the "brass" will fall directly underneeth the gun.....
It doesn't throw it out to one side or the other.
Otherwize....as I said Great Model.....Love it.

Good catch, I missed that the first time around. All you need to do is switch the ammo can to the left side of the gun.

Nice! I'd kinda like to see an entire run of Mad Max-esque kits and dioramas... in fact, maybe I should pick up some kits and try that.
