Hello everyone,
I have just set up the site on our new dedicated server. I am having a hard time telling (with my ISP) if this site is faster than the existing one. Please take a moment and compare the speed at which the site loads (keeping in mind the current site is probably cached on your machine to some degree) by going to http://www.wanderingknights.net.
Use the poll on that site to indicate your feeling of how slow/fast the server is running for your particular connection.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim, I'm using 56k dial up modem from the UK. The alt site loaded in about 32 secs, that's to the index.html page only. The main site (after deleting my cached copy) took 29secs - not exactly much in it :-)

I poked around in a number of places to check speed and it seemed to be faster in general and very consistant. I would say it's an improvement.

I'm not sure if this is what you wanted to hear, but I'm fine with BOTH sites. Speed is good compared to some problems we faced in the past.

Jim this site loads up in about ten seconds per page for me on dial up. The new one loads in 4 seconds per page. So for me it is better.

I'm on dial-up in the US. After emptying my cache, the new site is about 3 seconds faster than the old. That is to the main page.

I'm on a Dial up as well. It's a touch (3-5 seconds) faster.

Okay...this is good news on that front. Now I just need to try to test that server under a load. If we could just arrange a time where like 80-100 users would be online using it at once.
I guess if a large number of regulars can try to do this. Let's shoot for 19:00 GMT on Monday. Which if I am not mistaken would be 3:00pm EST, and 12:00pm PST so that should make it easy for Western Hemisphere folks at work and our EU folks at home.
Just use the forum and post messages. We'll start a running topic.
Thanks for the help,
Jim

I have noticed a gradual improvement over the last while. Now I have a good connection time both home and work. Good work Jim.

I might have been a touch late by doing this at 20.42 BST (19.42 GMT) but both sites loaded in about 5sec for me (Broadband in the UK)
Your dedication to this site is impressive.
