Hi all,
I've posted this topic already on HF, but I also want to show here my ever first attempt on painting splinter camo on a figure. I'm not fully satisfied with the result as the raindrop pattern is to dominant on the camo. This have to be toned down.
Also shadowing and highlighting have to be added, but how to do this on a camo scheme?
comments, criticism and suggestions welcome.

Looks nice! Maybe the striper are better in a brown color?

The second figure is painted somewhat different. Instead of dark grey striping as in the first figure, I mixed this colour with white, to make it some lighter. The stripe pattern is now indeed less dominant. I will post pictures of this soon.

Hi,
I'm suffering from a similar problem. I'm working on a fallschirmjager dio and have come to a stop with the figures. I'm happy with the actual splinter pattern, it's the rain pattern that is causing the problems. I've heard of draughtsmens pens being used but that was for 120mm -I don't know how itt would look it 1/35 and I really don't want to spoil the work I've done so far.
Cheers
Paul

Jelger,
Have you tried my SBS on painting German Camo. I am no expert on painting such camo, but I took a shot at it and wanted to share to all of us who never attempted do so.
I list what Vallejo paints I used and I have step by step pictures included.

Hi All , I am sorry to say but in 1/35 scale they are are invisable , the reason is simple I measured up the streaks from the original jacket hanging over my chair, so divide the following by 1/35 . All are 1.5 mm wide by the following , largest is 40 mm , next is 30mm, next is 20mm and the smallest is 10 mm . Try to replicate this with a paint brush or pen , Sorry to put a downer on your valyent efforts . cheers ian

Hi Ian,
I guess you're right about the visibility of the small lines in 1/35 scale. I also had my thought about it whether to put them on the camo or not, but without them i felt something was missing on the camo. However, as they are on the examples Pete showed (hopefully my camo turns out about the same like Petes' examples), I feel confident with the camo, even knowing that reality is a bit different.

I'm going to try with a 0.1mm pen. I know they couldn't be seen at 1/35 but they are visibly missing. I'll let you know how it works out.

I have used pens with camouflage patterns and found it to be a very accurate method.
