Hello everyone! I wanted to get some tips and tricks for my future models so I decided to register! I'll introduce myself first. I work as a game developer in texas, and have been texturing models for years (digitally) and wanted to take a shot at texturing models with my hands - my most recent project is a WW2 game, so I went out and decided to build each vehicle piece by piece to get accustomed to how I need to model them in the virtual world. I finished the Sherman first. I know some of the markings are not appropriate, but I went for the most aesthetically appealing approach over genuine. I wanted to get some tips from you experienced builders.

Very nice indeed for your first model. A coat of matte finish would help as AFV's weren't glossy at all. I sure hope you had fun doing it as that's really what it's all about.
Hope to see more from you....

Nice first build. The Tamiya Sherman is a good kit to start with.

It looks to be very good in all aspects, I like the colour variation displayed. I know it looks a little shiny but how much of that is due to the light source.

There was lots of rain in Europe! That explains the shine ;-)

haha, yeah you caught me, and one side isn't black on the road wheels. For someone that follows directions closely, I really miffed that one up bad. I'm just now finishing a Pershing in 1/35 and I made sure not to make the same mistake twice.

Ah, wish I could share, but the publisher has us under contract that we can't share anything in production.

Hi FleischPfeife. Very well done for your first model. But here's a few tips to improve your model.
1. Like the other says, finish the kit with a layer of matt varnish.
2. Your model need some pin-point wash at the edges and corners. This will enhance little details.
3. If possible, lighten your base colour a little more.
4. Dust some dust on your model or do some mild dry brushing.
Hope these will help you improve your model. Happy modelling and keep up the good work.

hey looks great for a 1st! my 1sts wer baddd! just a little too shiny n ther is some rust in odd places. rust is usually in places that r protected from wear and tear, and usually where 2 parts join on the real vehicle. the scratches look awesome tho!! i still cant seem to get them right myself!

Hi CJ,
This is a cracking Sherman for you first build. Excellent. You're getting a bit os shine but I suspect that's from the light.
Great work especially in that scale.
