Tamiya's Marder III is excellent and would work for 1942. For even earlier, you could try the Italeri Panzerjager I.

There is also the Alan Marder IID and the Italeri Marder 38H. which was produced in Mid-42.

Panzerjager Is were the only tank destroyers (if you can even call them that) used during Barbarossa as far as I know. The first Marders came out in early 1942 and were based on the French Lorraine chassis, then the PzII chassis, and finally the Pz38(t) chassis (the latter two are depicted by Tamiya).

What about the Demag D7 with 50mm Pak, like the Italeri model ? If you can call that a tank-destroyer... when did that model first show up ?

Alan kits have come a long way in recent years, but some of their early work sucked and that is exactly what their Marder II does. The kit doesn't fit. The detail is as soft as brie cheese. Most of the shapes of the vehicle are complete fiction. Basically, if you want a reasonably accurate (I'm not talking rivet-counting highly accurate) the only parts that can be used from the Alan kit are the lower hull because every thing else is WAY off. The whole upper hull is way too thick, the angles are all off, and the details are wrong. The gun is just as bad. Unless you like extensive scratchbuilding projects, stay away from this kit.

The Italeri Panzerjager I and the 2 Tamiya Marder IIIs are all really nice kits. The Tamiya Marder II isn't that great, but with a little TLC it can be made into a pretty nice kit. There are also some nice resin kits of early war German TDs that are based on the Frech Hotchkiss chassis.

Panzerjäger I is a really cool one you gotta build, Italeri has that one in 1:35, I'd recommend that one
