I'm looking for 1/35 german soldiers riding on a tank for a small diorama I have planned. I seem to remember a set released a number of years ago but I'll be blowed if I can remember who made them.
I've tried googling "tank riders" but no luck.
Does anyone know where I can find a group of soldiers that would fit on a tank?

Tamiya had an old set - Panzer Grenadiers. You might want to replace the heads/faces with Hornet or Warrior heads, but the poses are OK. They are posed on and around the tank, like they are using it for cover.

PANZER RIDERS, LORRAINE 1944, is a nice set from Dragon. They are currently on sale for $7 at www.greatmodels.com

Hey Vincent,
Another set that's worth considering is the old ICM kit #35311 scale German Assault Infantry 1942-1945.
It has been reboxed by Alanger as German Panzergrenadiers 1943-45 #35247:

Could use a bit of tweaking with new equipment, some resin heads maybe but overall it's a better set than the ancient Tamiya Panzergrenadiers set that are a bit undersized.
Another set of Panzergrenadiers is the one from Zvezda. kit #3582:

Not as many seated or riding figures but a nice looking set.
Cheers

Thanks Mark, David and John for your quick replys. I'm staggered at how fast information turns up on this Forum and I appreciate your input guys.
I'm thinking the Dragon figures are close to what I want and will start off with them. Only issue will be that I really wanted more than 4 riders so I'll check out how different they can potentially look with some tweaks. Maybe two sets will give me 8 figures that will all look different? I wonder how creative I can get?
Thanks again

Hi
As Pat said Tristar do a couple of sets, they are dressed in uniforms for the Winter more than the Dragon set, such as the Ardennes campaign but are good quality.
An in box review can be found here at Armorama and at PMMS

Panzer Grenadiers Set 2
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the ICM figures I've purchased, far better than any of the older Tamiya figure sets which should be avoided at all cost. The newer Tamiya sets are okay.
In fact Tamiya are using ICM figures in some of their mini diorama sets so they must think them good. You'll find they are also reboxed as already mentioned, by Revell and Alanger.
The best as regards detail these days are Dragon's Gen2 figures but not every set of theirs is up to this standard so buyer beware. Sure they are good but once you've seen the detail on their Gen 2 you'll see the difference and wish all were like this.
There are plenty to choose from in resin such as the Tank range but can work out expensive if you want to cover the tank in figures.
Happy Modelling.
Alan

Thanks Pat and Alan for your contributions.
I'm impressed with the Tri star figure sets and I think I'll pick up one or two. The reviews seem to suggest they are good quality. All I need to do is improve my painting skills to do them justice!

I hear what you say Brother. Painting little people has been a true challenge for these old eyes and fingers! Faust has got a great figure on display in the diorama forum. Give him a yell if you need advice. Faces are the toughest thing for me. Look forward to seeing how yours' turn out.
