Hi from down under.

Our local museum has the last surviving A7V Sturmpanzerwagen #506 Mephisto, my eldest lat would like to get his hands on one. Are there any available, in 1/35 scale and are they a good model to build? I did see an add for a smaller scale model however I prefer to work on something larger, I went to a rather good hobby store in the area and my enquiry drew a blank, does no one produce this classic as a kit?

Thylacine.

Hi there.
As to your inquiry, the company Tauro makes a 1/35 WW I Sturmpanzerwagen A7V. It costs about $25.50 US.
I do not know about the availablility where you live.
There may be another available but this is the only one I know about.
Take care,

Andrew

Tauro's A7V is not a bad kit except for the running gear. If you get one, forget about working suspension. Just glue the parts together. Do not attempt to use the kit link connectors. The physical pain ad frustration just aren't worth it. Get some home level staples, yes, the kind you use to staple sheets of paper together. Bend one end level with the base.

Use this to connect the links. Cut off the excess with wire cutters.
My Maxim MG's were damaged so I replaced them with metal castings.

Thylacine,

Here a couple links to the Tauro kit. STURMPANZERWAGEN A7V is the description from Tauro Models site. ARMOR IN SCALE has a build article for the Tauro A7V that’s good. If you want real ‘war’ stories about his kit, just ask Sabot. He has fond memories of this kit too.

Squadron has the kit in stock for $24.96USD.

Nice tip on the using of staples,I'll have to remember that one,i use plastic rod on my first two. But main reason I posted was to let you know thaeres a guy who puts out a brass barrel for the A7V,on his site he mistakenly put it under WW2 but it is the one for the Tauro kit. I replaced my MGs too using a maxim from Scale Link and made a mold of it and made resin copies. the barrel site is>>> www.brassbarrels.com HTH
