Okay gents, I have a question and I just know that you lot can provide me with an answer.
I am not a German armor builder, but I have several panzers and halftracks on the shelf, so I can't stay away from them forever.
When I look at pictures of Allied armor (pictures or models) than I see that most of them are just packed with personal gear, supplies and liberated items.
When I look at German armor then mostly they are clean in comparison to the allies, how come? Was it not allowed, or did they have more storage space inside (hardly).

Hi
If you want to see German WW2 armor covered in kit, look at pics of the early stages of Barbarossa or the desert campaign. I believe later German armor had more space inside (Tiger, Panther etc), and there was a big stowage box on the turret rear of most armor after 1941 or so.
Also, I believe those in retreat are catching up to their supplies and goods as opposed to the attackers. You needed to carry lots of fuel, food etc. when advancing through Normandy etc rather than retreating through it!
Basically, it looks like a early war vs late war split.
Cheers
Andy

Right on brother Andy.
I agree with what you have said.
After the exhaustive hours of browsing reference, the arguements stated by Andy seem very valid.
