This topic has been here not so long ago and basically the answer is ..... you will have to modify figures to look like skinnies. Im sure its possible to do by cutting away all the military detail of figues and with the aid of some milliput or magic sculpt....... turn them into skinnies. there are a few tamiya kits that the figures look too thin for their scale, that would be suitable. maybe check up that thread, as i cant remember what was talked about now.

Hello,
I thought that I knew of a couple of different sources that may help, but I ended up with only one. Warriors has 3 new African sets, unfortunately only one is a "militia man", but maybe with a little creativity (and a razor saw!) you can get the other ones to work for you.
here are the urls:
https://www.modelmecca.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl?go=Search&partnumber=WA%2035500
https://www.modelmecca.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl?go=Search&partnumber=WA%2035505
https://www.modelmecca.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl?go=Search&partnumber=WA%2035507
I like the guy with the shades, very cool.
Hope this helps a little,
Chris

I am afraid you have to convert most figures yourself (a good opportunity to aquire a new skill maybe ?). Here is a link from someone who makes many of his own figures... converting/making your own figures The sit is down at the moement, I hope it gets back up soon... If it does not, then I'll try to find out what is wrong (as I know the owner from another board).

Ouch! Yes you are correct, according to XE.com, this is what the total would be.
12.95 USD United States Dollars = 22.1910 NZD New Zealand Dollars
1 USD = 1.71359 NZD 1 NZD = 0.583570 USD
I'll keep looking, but thats all I can think of for now.
Cheers,
Chris

hi,
cant remember the site, ive seen it on a few but theres italian military figures based on those that were from africa and served italy during ww2. These may be a help if your converting them. i will try and locate the sites for you some time this week. Possibly you could try and search out zulu figures and ammend the dress accordingly?

If you are just looking for "african" looking heads I found one:
Hornet makes HH05 Bare African heads, which might make it a bit easier to convert figures.
http://www.greenwichgateway.com/hornetandwolf/
Actually the Greatmodels.com website has a better picture:

Is it just me or is there something wrong with that link for the afghanie militia, everytime i went to get in it said web page could not be found? Zach, my omaha dio was going to end up being WAY over anything i could afford, i will hopefully geta round to it in future, but i did end up doing one of the bunker/trench system that was attop the cliffs at omaha, i will get some pics here soon. cheers

Verlinden 1825 Desert City Mud Brick House look pretty sweet, and was probably inspired by the movie anyway.
Also, verlinden's taliban figures without the turbans might look good.

The company MONROE PERDU also makes several "mid-eastern" plaster houses... and quite nice at that... if nothing else, it could give you some excellent ideas. And don't forget that many of the shops were originally built by European transported civilians, and therefore would bear quite a resemblance to the counterpart buidings of Europe in the early 1900's - 1920.

Okay, I found somthing else that may be of some us to you. This is a great site for pictures, the "witty" banter below the photos can be a little annoying, but oh well.
Here you go: www.militaryphotos.net
Than go to: Contemporary Military Photos
and finally to: Album: Operations Restore Hope and Gothic Serpent - Somalia - 1992-1993

You will maybe have to modify, and then paint in dark brown colors.
