I logged on tonight planning to show what I have finished, knowing that Agent_Q may attempt to have me killed.........Then I saw a new deadline of May 31.......... Anyway, here is where I stand:

Here you see my headless driver passing an almost finished boy

My headless driver also has no steering wheel yet.......

I thought this view was cool......

I plan to call this thing "Beans and Bullets" once it's complete.

Any wake on the Schwimmenwagen?

I have one more layer of resin to pour. I'm going to try to put a wake in it.

I think the shorts look realistic enough. Remember ...... shorts in those days werent shorts like today .... they were big and baggy. Also exact sizes were not common place, and could also have been hand-me-downs from a bigger brother or father!
I think the dio is shaping up well, and with the addition of the toplayer of resin with some wake... it should be brilliant.
One thing that could be improved is where the little pier starts. Either the ground would fill up to the pier level or the first timbers would be bent down with traffic and weight. Also some long grass around it in places would be realistic. It looks just too perfect if you know what I mean. I know you are not finished, but the additions of some rope around the pier legs or a tyre would add some life to the scene.
Great dio and great idea........ just trying to add my 2 cents to the story!! Good luck

Pat,

Need concept and execution. Sorta like the "Little Rascals" meet the Wermacht... Maybe the kid could convince the soldier to help him out and they could go grenade fishing...
Watch out for Agent Q...

I do notice that the ripples beside the car are not there. But hey! maybe you could add that in the next layer of resin.

Will you give the boy a matte coating when he's finished.
Another diorama figuring Zevons's 'Roland the headless Thompson Gunner". :-)
Yess, some rope, maybe a few dead fish the boy has just caught, a fishing rod and a bucket,... something to liven up the scene a little.

I made the water using clear resin. I painted the top of each layer and then the last layer (yet to be poured) will be clear. I used the same stuff Slodder wrote about here:
