Hi everyone guys,
i'd like to share with you the figure im working on...its an Alpine one in 1/35 , its my first "serious" try at figure painting .... The uniform is done with acrylics and the face with oils over acrylics.
As you can notice the hat ( basque ) is field grey .... i've done it that way cause i've found a pic in which a crew member is wearing that kind of hat in a field grey color...( note the difference between the black of the battalion insigna on the side of the Stug - a D type so nearly 1941 - and the lighter color of the uniform / hat ) . Do you think its possible or meaby its just a wrong impression that i got..?
Eventually im ready to replace the head with another one from Hornet wearing an helmet.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Ciao
Alex.

I like the faded look of the uniform , looks nice. The cap looks like the same color as the uniform to me also Bob

Hi Bob,
thanks for your comment. Belive me if i say that i've checked many many times the original pic....( i have also a photografer past ..so im accostumed to deal with b/w pictures ) and the more i watch it the more i think that the uniform is a field-gray color .... or any other light color , but not black at all. Its very strange because that kind of hat went out of production at the end of the French campaign , and originally was black.....if im not wrong.
Anyway , if somebody could help with this matter please leave a comment , im really curious about it.

Nice work. AFAIK the Panzer Beret (Schutzmütze) was available in grey for Stug crews.
